Travelling to Baltrum by car
The first destination is the town of "Neßmersiel". From there you will sail to Baltrum with a ship. Since Baltrum is an island, on which cars are not allowed you will have to leave your car in Neßmersiel. There is a parking service, which means that your car can be taken from the harbour to the parking place or to a garage for you. On the day of your departure your car will be waiting for you again in the harbour.
You travel by train until the train station "Norden". From there a bus can take you to the boat for Baltrum. You can leave your luggage at the bus and get it back at the other end, on the island. Please, make sure that when you travel, a bus for the boat is waiting, since a boat trip does not automatically mean that there is a bus as well.
- Pack your suitcase(s) and send it (them) by mail not later than 3 days before your departure to Baltrum. This will cost you approximately 15 DM per suitcase (in Germany). It will save you a lot of carrying, especially when you travel by train..
- We're pleased to send our guests luggage stickers. Put the stickers on your luggage, please. You can leave your luggage in Neßmersiel, before you go on the boat. All pieces of luggage with stickers will be transported to the island in a separate container and will be taken to our house on Baltrum after the boat has arrived.
Should you travel to Baltrum during the winter (e.g. over New years' Eve), please check the departure times of the boat beforehand. Sometimes it happens, that the boat does not sail or that there are delays as a result of thick ice on the water. Changes like these will be announced early through the local radio station.
- Under EFA you can choose from the boat connections. Should you travel by train: EFA also gives you the train connection.
